Open Knowledge Scotland

Scotland joined the Open Knowledge network in early 2013.

Core Team

Ewan is a professor at the University of Edinburgh’s [School of Informatics][], where he does research on natural language processing and computational semantics. </p> Wearing his teacher hat, Ewan enjoys introducing beginning students to coding, and talking to more advanced students about the semantic web, ontologies and linked data. Both areas provide opportunities to encourage students to work on open data projects. He is a project leader of the open source Natural Language Toolkit, and is also involved in reseach projects which allow him to collaborate with colleagues in digital humanities and the digital social science. As an Ambassador, he is primarily focussing on Open Government Data at both a local and national level in Scotland.
